Thomas Hope Style Painted & Water Gilded Torchere
An early 19th century style painted and water gilded torchere specially commissioned and inspired from a original Thomas Hope design. The inset round top in black marble with grey veining is surrounded with intricate carving. A finely carved central column is surrounded by four supports terminating a lion paw feet, on a plinth base which stands on four block feet.
The piece was transported in its raw solid mahogany state to our Devon workshops where it was gesso, sanded, painted and water gilded in 23.5 carat gold leaf.
