A Pair of Baroque Giltwood and Gesso Wall Mirrors

Circa 1700 and later – Original Antique

This exquisite pair of Baroque giltwood and gesso wall mirrors is a striking reflection of 18th-century European craftsmanship, bringing a sense of grandeur and historical elegance to any home.

Each mirror features a rectangular plate set within an opulently decorated frame, adorned with flowing C-scrolls, delicate flowers, and winged cherubs. The pedimented surmount, crowned with billowing clouds, enhances the dramatic Baroque aesthetic.

These mirrors share a strong affinity with pieces produced in Germany and Holland during the early 18th century, as referenced in Graham Child’s World Mirrors 1650-1900. Their design echoes the work of Friedrich Unteutsch and Dutch overmantels of the period, particularly in their intricate cherub motifs.

A magnificent addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors, this pair of Baroque mirrors is a timeless investment in artistry and history.
