Description
Antique Water Gilded Console and Mirror, Circa 1820
Circa 1820 – Original Antique
A finely crafted Regency-period console and mirror set, dating to circa 1820. This exceptional piece features a water-gilded finish, enhanced by ebonized detailing and intricate classical motifs.
The mirror is set within a gilded frame adorned with applied decorative elements, including lyre and scroll patterns, bordered by elegant fluted columns. An arched pediment crowns the structure, featuring a central mask motif flanked by symmetrical cornucopias, hallmarks of the Regency aesthetic.
The accompanying console echoes these refined details, with a gilded frieze incorporating anthemion motifs and lion masks. Finely carved rope-twist columns support the structure, resting on gilt bases set upon a contrasting faux-marble plinth.
This English-made console and mirror set exemplifies the craftsmanship and design sensibilities of the early 19th century, making it a distinguished addition to both period interiors and contemporary spaces.
