Water Gilded Period Mirror with Antiqued Glass

A Water Gilded Period Mirror with Antiqued Glass, beautifully crafted giltwood mirror featuring cartouche bevelled glass with an antique finish.

The frame is entirely hand-carved in mahogany, with additional detailing and definition applied in the gesso layer. The 23¾ carat gold leaf has a ‘bright and matt’ effect, with highlighted areas carefully burnished using an agate stone. There is subtle distressing that exposes the bole beneath, enhancing the antique charm.

To complete the period look, the mirror glass is finished with an antiqued effect, further adding to its vintage appeal.

This stunning mirror is based on original templates and drawings from Biggs of Maidenhead, an antique specialist run by our family. The Water Gilded Period Mirror with Antiqued Glass features intricate foliate scroll carving, topped with a decorative urn, making it a stylish addition to any home.
