The Gillows Stool

This finely crafted mahogany ‘X’ frame stool is inspired by the distinguished work of Gillows of Lancaster, a renowned 18th-century furniture maker. The solid seat features a gracefully bowed, moulded edge, offering both durability and refinement.

The stool stands on elegantly carved serpentine ‘X’ frame supports, a hallmark of classic design. At the center, a shaped foliage-carved panel showcases the hand-painted Spencer crest, adding a historical connection. Gilt ‘C’ scroll accents embellish the sides, enhancing the stool’s traditional craftsmanship.

This piece is based on an original George III design, circa 1760, reflecting the elegance and precision of period furniture while maintaining its timeless appeal.
