Hand-carved in mahogany and gilded in metal leaf, this mirror is inspired by an original from 1760. It features pierced foliate cresting above a rectangular plate, framed by a pierced trellis surround with C-scrolls, branches, and flame motifs. The pierced apron is flanked by rockwork detailing.
This reproduction reflects the elegance of the George III period, circa 1760, from a Sotheby’s Fine English Furniture auction in 1996, with an estimated value of £5,000-£7,000.
